Wanderlust Cocktails

Our favorite cocktail recipes from around the world to get you dreaming and feeling globally inspired. From Spain to Peru and down to Cuba, we have a cocktail for every traveler and every bucket list dreamer.

SPAIN: TINTO DE VERANO

Say hello to the "red wine of the summer" sangria of your dreams. It is cheaper than water in Spain.

Ingredients

  • 1 cup red wine (preferably Spanish, such as rioja)

  • 1 cup lightly-sweetened lemon-lime soda

  • 1 lemon wedge

Just Putzing

KOREA: SUBAK-SOJU

One of my fiancé's favorite drinks is Soju and I am so desperate to get him to visit Seoul with me again some day. I fell in love with Korea when I was working there for 2 weeks back in 2019. Okay so what is in this fave of ours? Its a blend of rice liquor (Soju) and some fresh watermelon and lime juices. Check this watermelon cocktail out.

Ingredients

  • 1 mini seedless watermelon

  • 1 bottle (375ml) of soju (you can substitute with vodka, white rum or sake)

  • 1 bottle (355ml) of sprite

Sugar and Charm

CUBA: MOJITO

A staple cocktail for many, did you know the mojito was invented in Cuba and preferred by Hemingway? The mint, the lime, the sugar, I am ready to book a one way ticket to the islands. Check out the recipe here.

Ingredients

  • 8 leaves fresh mint

  • 3 slices of lime, halved, divided

  • 1-1/2 Tablespoons sugar

  • 1.75 ounces rum

  • 0.5 ounces Cointreau

  • Ice

  • Sparkling mineral water

  • Lime and mint for garnish

Noble Pig

PERU: PISCO SOUR

One of my favorite transitioning-the-seasons cocktails: a sour. Yes, there’s egg in your cocktail and it is DELICIOUS. Some simple syrup here, a dash of lime there and a splash of Pisco (a Peruvian brandy) and you are in business my friend. Check out the recipe here.

Ingredients

  • 2 ounces of pisco

  • 1/2 ounce of lemon

  • 1 ounce green apple juice

  • 1/2 oz Grade B Maple Syrup

  • 1 egg white

  • Garnish with bitters

Honestly Yum

FRANCE: KIR ROYALE

A classy and sophisticated sparkling aperitif with Champagne, crème de cassis and fresh berries. Is it too cheesy to say this drink is a oui oui? Recipe can be found here.

Ingredients

  • Chilled champagne or sparkling wine

  • Crème de cassis or blackcurrant liqueur about 10 ml crème de cassis to 90-95 ml champagne

  • Berries to garnish
